Silver Legion Award

Alumnus brother Wayne Barbour ('71) received the Silver Legion Award on October 27th, during Homecoming. This award is a honor bestowed upon those initiated 25+ years ago. "The Silver Legion was appreciated and quite a surprise," stated Mr. Barbour. Brother Barbour is a member of the original Founding Fathers of Eta Kappa and he paid tribute to that group of outstanding men as well. "There are several past brothers that are worthy of this recognition and I was proud to accept it on behalf of the group that I had the privilege to be a part of in the early '70s." Currently he is active in the chapter and is a valuable resource to our undergraduate members. The changes Mr. Barbour saw, coupled with the presence of his son, Jordan Barbour ('06), were also highlights. "A lot has changed over the years but the brotherhood is still strong and I was encouraged to see the enthusiasm among the current group. I also had a great sense of pride at the banquet as I looked out and saw my son Jordan was a part of this great group. " In closing he left the chapter wise advice regarding our current adviser, Brother Clive Hallman ('71), and hope for the future. "I would also encourage that the current chapter draw on the knowledge and wisdom of Clive Hallman. I wish this chapter nothing but the best of Luck going forward." Brother Barbour received a long, standing ovation from all those in attendance. A well deserved honor.

We thank brother Barbour for his support, guidance, and activity in Eta Kappa through the years, and his continued service to Theta Chi.

The banquet was held on Saturday evening at Cally's in downtown Harrisonburg. In attendance were multiple alumni, undergraduates, and family. The banquet was designed to recognize the achievements of members of Eta Kappa as well as provide a forum for socialization and brotherhood. Other recognitions included brother Thomas Webb ('06) for receiving the Craig M. Blass ('95) Memorial Scholarship. Brother Blass perished in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

Love and Respect all Brothers.
